"iOS Maps another internet services blunder for Apple" says NYT

A New York Times report on Friday stated that Apple's new software based iOS Mapps app and its corresponding service is another mark of the company's lack of focus in giving reliable internet-based services to the users, and also reveals that the original iPhone wasn't planned to have mapping software until mere weeks before its debut.

iPhone 5 costs aproximaly 41 cents per year to charge

A new study states that Apple's new iPhone 5 costs only 41 cents a year to recharge if you do it once a day. This new estimate shows that it is less than a third of its sibling, the iPad.

This is assuming that iPhone 5 owners will recharge their device once a day for the entire year:

The metric, put out this week by energy analytics company Opower, is based on the assumption that iPhone owners will recharge their device once a day for the entire year:
Phone 5: consumed 9.5 watt-hours to charge, taking 1 hour and 50 minutes. Maximum wattage was 6.3 watts, with an average of approximately 5.0 W. Multiplying 0.0095 kWh/day by 365 days = 3.47 kWh per year. Annual charging cost is projected to be $0.41/year.

Power use on today's newest smartphones -- it's about the price of two text messages.

Opower stated that, regarding this subject,  iPhone won against its main competition, Samsung's Galaxy S3, which is estimated to cost 53 cents a year to be charhed due to its larger battery.
